As the coronavirus spreads it's going to be harder and harder for us musicians to make a living so if you have enjoyed the content of this blog or some of my videos or enjoyed my gigs in the past please consider making a donation, "every little helps" as a certain supermarket likes to say and would much appreciated!

Reforming The Jazz Duo

Just before all this virus trouble kicked off Mags Wylie and myself had the great pleasure of playing our first gig together in about ten years!

The venue was The Spring in Havant, on one of their Saturday afternoon Music Bites events.

We played a set of standards mainly drawn from the jazz side but with a few bluesier numbers, as well a couple of originals. Mostly intrumental, Mags sung a couple of numbers "Sunny" and "One For My baby" and ofcourse played bass guitar throughout. I played a few songs on my semi-acoustic and the rest on my Matthew Carter acoustic guitar.

Here is our take on Summertime:

We had a great turnout and the gig was going really well, but was unfortunatly cut sligfhtly short as the Elgar Society had booked the room upstairs and ironically we had a noise complaint! Though having received a massive round of applause at the end of our unexpected last number we were asked for a quick encore, so we had the "last laugh".

Once things return to normal we plan to be out gigging, look out for us if you like a mix of cool jazz and mellow blues...
